Slow and steady wins the race?

OK, I'm at 2826 words and an odd thing happened. At some point the narration began to sound more like a summary than narration. No dialogue, just a short history of the universe I'm exploring. Kind of weird. I don't think that will be in the final version, although it may make for a great springboard for flashbacks or something. Only time will tell.

Peace,

What am I doing?

I know, one blog entry and I had to go and set up a myspace page. Crazy, huh. It's just that I've made a decision tonight to use this space for more in-depth coverage of my journey to the great American novel, and I'll use My Space to cover more of my interests other than writing. So come here if you want to know about my writing, go to http://www.myspace.com/howefitz to know about my entire life. There will probably be some cross-pollination, but I'll try to keep it to a minimum.

As of tonight, I am at 2,463 words of my novel, which according to my writing progress meter is 4% of the average 50,000 words for an average novel. I don't know really where this is going, but I've already surprised myself a couple of times. It truly is amazing how characters start living a life of their own. I just have to document it. (And try to keep up!)

Thanks, Justin

Adventures in writing?!

Hello there.

Welcome to my first attempt at a blog. "Welcome to the 21st century!" I can hear you say. Yeah well, I'm here now. Will you have me?

I plan on using this blog to chart my progress on my novel that I will be co-writing with my wife, Bobbette. I figure if I can't keep myself on track, maybe with a few extra eyes watching I'll stay on task. ;)

From time to time I may even have some fun reviewing movies, comics, books, politics, whatever suits my fancy. But the main focus will be writing in general and charting my progress.

I've already posted my new year's resolutions regarding writing on about.com, thanks to Allena Tapia's blog, which you can read here: http://freelancewrite.about.com/b/2007/12/26/9-ways-to-keep-your-writing-resolutions-this-new-year.htm
Thanks, Allena!

I'm really taking her advice to heart, which is to make your plans public! That way if nothing else, pride will keep you moving in the direction that you want to go. So here goes...

Anyway, I sat down to do some work on the novel, so I'm going to leave you now. I will update as often as I can!

See you out there!
