Poem a Day, Day 25

Today's challenge was to write a poem about a job.

Security Blanket

A decade ago I took a

'get me through college' job

It was a good job

Secure, like a good blanket

A decade later

I'm still there

Granted, the company has

promoted me

relocated me

Made a 'career man' out of me

But how much longer can I sustain it?

When it doesn't seem to pay the bills

Doesn't offer the promise it once did

Can I turn away now?

Leave it all behind?

What exactly would I be leaving again?

I think I've outgrown my security blanket.
